The Point is the official knife sharpening service of the Visiting Chef Program at the Warrior Retreat at Bull Run.
Why Sharpen a Knife?
Too often the most used tools in our homes are often the most neglected. Remember that shiny new knife you bought years ago? Remember how easy it was to cut and chop as you prepared dinner? Then over the next few months cutting and chopping became more of a chore. A few crushed tomatoes here, maybe a cut finger when the knife slipped off a carrot…it happens so gradually and innocently we don’t know better. You tried “steeling”, maybe even bought one of those handheld sharpeners, only to find the results weren’t quite what you expected. That once sharp knife ends up in a drawer with the can opener and vegetable peeler! Maybe you are new to cooking – excited about using fresh ingredients and learning new kitchen skills. Whatever your skill level you deserve the sharpest and most functional kitchen cutlery available. Sharp knives are safer and most definitely easier to use. The sharper the knife, the easier it cuts and the safer it is to use. Instead of effortlessly slicing and dicing, a dull knife requires more force, which could lead to a carving mishap.

How It Works
There are three ways for you to access my services.
- Personal Drop Off & Pick up: You may personally drop off/pick up articles needing sharpening at my home at a prearranged time. Call or text 571-639-5162 to make arrangements. A drop box is available for early morning or late night drop offs.
- Stylist Shears: Pick up and delivery is free for all stylist shears and clipper blades. Turn around is generally 24 hours for shears, and a limited supply of loaner shears is available. Call or text 571-639-5162 to make arrangements for pick up.
- Shipping: You may ship articles needing sharpening via a carrier of your choice. Use a box, never an envelope, and wrap the knives securely in paper, taking care to secure knife tips. Every attempt is made to return the sharpened knives in the same box. Once I receive the items to be sharpened I will call for credit card information on the cost plus return postage. There is a $10 per box fee for returning knives and tools.
- Pick up & Drop off Service for knives, woodworking tools, and gardening tools (incl. mower blades): Available for customers residing in western Prince William County, Virginia only. We will pick up/drop off your articles needing sharpening from/to your home or desired local meeting place for a flat-rate fee of an additional $6. The more things you have sharpened the better the value in pickup and delivery. Note: There is no charge for pickup or delivery for residents of Dominion Valley, Regency at Dominion Valley, Piedmont, or Heritage Hunt.
- Payment for Services: Payment is due after services are rendered (except for shipped items). We accept Cash, Check, Major Credit Cards, or PayPal.
What We Do Not Sharpen
Pinking scissors or those fancy shaped scissors used for hobbies like scrapbooking. Swords, katanas, machetes, spears, arrows or darts.
